Welcome to 8Bit Loot

All thing pixelated

Overview

8Bit Loot started as a passion project

8Bit Loot is my own interpretation on pixel arts. Including digital drawings, animations, and UI design system.

Purposes

Limited colors and blocky shapes are not handicapped, it's a choice and personal expression.

Original content only, a place to showcase all thing pixelated created by me.

Inspirations

I refuse to grow up. Sort by personal best:

Terraria (2011)

Started playing in 2014 and it went downhill from there. The best pixel game ever. I am glad that I discovered Terraria very late into game's life cycle. The first playthrough costed me 1000 hours of sheer frustration just to finally beat the Moon Lord.

Terraria ignited my appreciation for pixel arts. For the longest time I thought pixels were just tech limitations.

As of 2024, I have logged around 30,000 hours on Steam for Terraria

Pokemon S/G/C (2001)

My first Gameboy game and my personal favorite generation.

Silver/Gold/Crystal addressed some balance issues from Gen 1. Gen 2 introduced 100 more Pokemons, added Steel and Dark as the new types. The balance was so good that a brand new community of online-battle was introduced using mIRC chatrooms. I spent countless hours theory-crafting and battled other players on mIRC's BattleArena.

All of the kids from the BattleArena era, including me, naturally grew up and acquired all of sorts of useful skills. Along with the Internet boom in 2007 to 2010, the mIRC scenes slowly migrated to Web-app. Smogon was born and had since become the new standard for online competitive play.

Pokemon R/S/E (2003)

Gen 3 Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald addressed even more imbalance issues. Gen 3 also moved to the Gameboy Advance with better graphics.

Gen 3 was a big improvement over Gen 2 in every sense. I looked back at it fondly and I wished I could have enjoyed it more.

Unfortunately the timing did not work out. I was in my High School senior year, life was fast approaching. Secondly, as soon as I tried to get back into Pokemon, World of Warcraft happened. And the rest was history until 2015 when I discovered Terraria.
